Learn MYOS
What MYOS is
MYOS is an operating system for your life and work that runs on conversation. It is a folder of plain files on your computer, plus an AI assistant who reads and writes those files for you when you talk to it.
The three parts
The vault is the folder. It holds everything: your profile, your work streams, your tasks, your notes. Every file in it is plain text you can open, read, and keep forever.
The assistant is Claude Code, running from inside that folder with the vault's own instructions loaded. It knows who you are and what is open because it reads the files, not because it remembers you.
The system is the set of moves that connect the two. Something lands, it becomes a task, you work the task with your assistant, the task gets archived, and what you learned gets folded back into the files. Those moves are the same on day one and in year three.
Why it is a folder of files
Every other tool of this kind is a database you fill in by hand, inside an app you rent. MYOS is markdown files in a folder you own. They open in any text editor. They survive the app, the subscription, and the company.
That also makes them readable by an AI assistant with no integration work at all. Your assistant does not need an API into your system. Your system is files, and reading files is the thing it is best at.
What a day looks like
You open a terminal and type myos. Your assistant starts inside the vault, reads your profile and your open tasks, and tells you where things stand. You talk. It writes.
You do not fill in forms. You do not maintain the structure by hand. You describe what happened or what you want, and the files change to match.
What it is not
It is not an app, a subscription, or a service that holds your data. It is not an autopilot that runs your life while you are away, and Rhythms is honest about exactly what does and does not happen when you are not sitting there.
It is also not finished, on purpose. It is a starting structure that you extend by talking to it, which is what Growing your system covers.
What it needs
A Windows PC. Claude Code, signed in to your own paid Claude plan. Obsidian, which is free, and which is the window you read your vault through.
Nothing else. No new account to open, no server, and nothing of yours held anywhere but your own disk.
